Cookie Policy

RelyComply Cookie Policy

Version:

Effective date:

1. Introduction

This Cookie Policy explains how Dataseed (Pty) Ltd, trading as RelyComply (“RelyComply”, “we”, “us”, “our”), uses cookies and similar technologies on the websites at relycomply.com and relycomply.com/en-gb/ (the “Website”). It should be read together with our Website Privacy Notice, which explains how we handle personal information more generally.

This Policy reflects our obligations under the ePrivacy rules on the storing of and access to information on a user’s device (in the UK, the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (“PECR”); in the EU, the ePrivacy Directive 2002/58/EC as implemented locally), and under POPIA, the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR where cookies process personal information.

2. What are cookies and similar technologies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They let the site recognise your device, remember your preferences and understand how the site is used. We use the term “cookies” in this Policy to include similar technologies such as pixels and tags, software development kits, and local or session storage.

Cookies may be “first-party” (set by RelyComply) or “third-party” (set by another organisation, such as Google, LinkedIn or Meta). They may be “session” cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or “persistent” cookies (which remain for a set period).

3. The categories of cookies we use

We group cookies into the four categories below. Only strictly necessary cookies are set automatically; every other category is set only after you give consent and is switched off by default.

CategoryWhat it is forConsent
Strictly necessaryRequired for the Website to function — e.g. security/bot management, content delivery and remembering your cookie choices. The site cannot work properly without these. No consent required.
Preferences / functionalRemember choices you make, such as your language or region.Consent required. Off by default.
Statistics / analyticsHelp us understand how visitors use the Website so we can measure and improve performance.Consent required. Off by default.
Marketing / advertisingMeasure advertising and, where applicable, build a profile of your interests to show relevant ads on other sites.Consent required. Off by default.

4. Your consent and how to manage cookies

When you first visit the Website you are shown a cookie banner. We apply the following rules so that your choice is free and informed:

  • Non-essential cookies and trackers (preferences, statistics and marketing) are blocked and do not load until you give affirmative consent.
  • Each non-essential category is presented separately and is switched off by default; you opt in per category.
  • Closing the banner without making a choice is treated as a refusal, not as consent.
  • You can change or withdraw your consent at any time through the “Cookie settings” link, with the same ease as giving it.
  • We record your choice (in the cookie_consent cookie) and the consent or refusal for each session, so that we can demonstrate the choice you made.

You can also control cookies through your browser settings. Guidance for common browsers is available at aboutcookies.org.

6. Third-party cookies and international transfers

Some cookies and trackers are set by third parties — including Google, Meta, LinkedIn, Hotjar, HubSpot and Cloudflare — which act as independent or joint controllers for their own purposes. Where these technologies transfer personal information outside South Africa, the United Kingdom or the European Union (for example to Google, Meta or LinkedIn in the United States), the transfer is made under the safeguards described in the international transfers section of our Website Privacy Notice. Please refer to each third party’s own privacy and cookie notices for details of their processing.

7. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the technologies we use or to legal requirements. The current version, with its effective date, is published on the Website.

8. More information

For any question about this Policy or about our use of cookies, contact our Data Protection Officer at privacy@relycomply.com. More detail about how we handle personal information is set out in our Website Privacy Notice.
